It's my party and I will cry if I want to...

And that is exactly what Ellie did at her school party yesterday... What a day.

We started out by projectile vomiting in the car on the way to school. I was stuck in traffic and could only see and hear what was taking place in the back seat. We made it to school which turned into a bath in the sink with hand soap, and a change of clothes. I wish I had a picture of the outfit from school... She looked like a fraternity boy - polo shirt and cords. Hilarious. I ran home to clean the car, car seat, and wash her outfit.

We headed back to the school to celebrate her birthday with her class with mini cupcakes. The tears started as soon as we walked in the door and didn't end. We had another uh-oh that consisted of Ellie touching her candle. I know - Mom of the Year!

We got home to play outside which turned into a disaster because of her lack of nap. She fell a couple of times and the last time was a doozie. Her face met the pavement and the pavement won.

We decided it was bath time and bedtime. We didn't end our day without smashing our thumb in the toilet seat... Oh what a day! So glad today is Friday!!! More on big birthday and Halloween later!

The last couple of weeks...

I cannot believe we'll be celebrating Ellie's 1st birthday this weekend... Wow! What a wonderful, fast year. I need to catch up over the last 2 weeks. It's been the same old song... WORK WORK WORK (Auburn Football) WORK WORK WORK (Auburn Football). I really feel like this fall recruitment season has me re-evaluating my work/life balance for next year. I know there has to be a way to get it all done!

We have been trying to slow down and enjoy the beautiful fall weather each afternoon. Ellie loves being outside. We attempted the Auburn-Arkansas game and lasted until half time. This week we got a babysitter and enjoyed every last second of the Auburn-LSU game!

Enjoy the pictures! We'll be updating with Ellie's 1st birthday and Halloween next week!

Pumpkin Patch

We had a great, and HOT, trip to the pumpkin patch this weekend. I can't get over the weather we are having. I think we all got a little sun and were only out for an hour!

This pumpkin is a little too big for me...

...but these are just my size

Enjoying the hayride

I found another one!

What about two pumpkins, Daddy?

11 months

1 month away from my big first birthday!!! September flew by for us with our busy work schedules. I am very late on Ellie's 11 month update. We took her picture, but I am just finding time to post. I am so behind on even reading my favorite blogs. I am definitely not in a good work-life balance right now.

What has Ellie been up to over the last month?

WALKING anywhere and everywhere
Falling a lot trying to balance and figure out how fast her little feet move
Pitching some fits
Waves hey and bye-bye
Dances when music is on (which is a lot with her Daddy around)
Attached to her Mommy and Daddy
Eating and Sleeping great
Drinking for a sippy cup
Starting some "real people" food
Loving any type of ball

Watching the neighborhood boys playing football and wanted to join in the fun

Taking music lessons from my Daddy

Booty Shot

Eating a Popsicle

Bath Time - favorite time of the day!

My PB Chair - such a big girl now

Watching the AU Game

BooBoo - my head met the concrete step

Helping my Daddy with the yard

Working Mom

Well, it has been A LOT harder than I thought trying to balance being a mom and a BUSY work season. Coming back in the Spring was pretty easy, but Fall has been hard. For those not familiar with college admissions, fall is our busy season. We travel to high schools, college fairs, campus events, private student meetings, etc... all day and night. I am logging 12 - 15 hour days right now which leaves little time at home with Jay and Ellie. The busy season is only temporary (August - December), and I have to remind myself of that on a daily basis. Jay has definitely filled in as Mr. Mom that last several weeks and has complained ZERO about it. He cleans the house, cooks dinner, takes care of Ellie, on top of working 8 - 10 hours a day! I can't tell you how great it is to have someone take on my normal duties without a single complaint. I am very grateful that he has re-arranged and balanced his schedule for my crazy schedule.

Since I have been up to my eyeballs in college admissions (oh the stories I could tell from my job - different post), we've relied on camera phone pictures.

Thanks to the The Hudson Storm for keeping Ellie while I had work in Auburn one morning! She can't wait to come back and see her boyfriend(s)! I appreciate it more than you'll ever know! I owe you a big favor of keeping The Storm anytime you all want a night out in Atlanta!

Catching Up - Mini Vacation

Jay had a business trip to Jekyll Island a couple of weeks back, so we tagged along to enjoy the beach for a couple of days. I was extremely worried about the 5 1/2 hours trip, but Ellie did great. We only stopped once and changed out the videos every 30 minutes. I was hoping she would nap, but that only happened the last 30 minutes of the trip.

We enjoyed the Shrimp and Grits Festival and had our fair share of shrimp and grits. I am good for at least a year. Ellie LOVED the grits, live music, and sea breeze. We ventured out to the beach on Saturday. I am so happy I grew up going to the Gulf. I don't know that I could get used to the rocky beaches, and muddy looking ocean water. It reminded me of the lake. The pool was still semi-doable and Ellie splashed around in the baby pool.

We watched the first half of the AU/Clemson game with sound, and the the last half without sound while Ellie slept (which was hard to do for the 2nd half). We were all in one SMALL room, so sleeping was a challenge each night. We definitely do better with our own rooms!
